Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons Growth Alarms Global Powers;Fears of Islamic Terrorist Rogue Nuclear Bomb

Pakistan’s Nuclear Weapons Program is known to be  source of tension for world powers was already known. But the WikiLeaks revelations has shown that the situation is more alarming than it seems.USA is not the only big power concerned with the Nuclear Weapons falling into the hands of Islamic Terrorists.China,Russia and UK are equally concerned with the high risk that this nuclear program poses.Pakistan has recently been torn apart by internal Islamist and Taliban terrorism bringing the economy to a halt.Floods and Earthquakes have exacerbated the situation. The Pakistan Polity is equally as corrupt and self serving as most of the other South Asian ones.Note Pakistan became a nuclear power by testing nuclear weapons in 1997 following India’s Nuclear Tests.

Pakistan and India have been rivals since their formation in 1947 having fought 3 wars since then.Kashmir remains a constant source of tension between the 2 countries. With India having a much larger conventional capability,Pakistan feels the need for a nuclear advantage which would negate this capability. However the  proliferation activities of AQ Khan and the growing power of radicals has made Pakistan the potential future source of rogue nuclear bombs.Wikileaks has revealed that Pakistan is producing bombs at a faster rate than any other country and the US-India Nuclear Deal has only made the condition worse.Note USA recently protested the sales of Chinese Nuclear Reactors to Pakistan which would allow the availability of more material for Nuclear Bombs.Reasons for Investing in India’s Defense Industry remain as as strong as ever

‘Pak army no match for India’s so we want more nukes’

Despite “pending economic catastrophe,” Pakistan is producing nuclear weapons at a “faster rate” than any other country in the world, according to a stunning American appraisal that forms part of the cables relating to US-Pakistan relations leaked by the whistleblower organization wikileaks.

The assessment was conveyed by US National Intelligence Officer for South Asia Dr Peter Lavoy to NATO representatives in November 2008 amid widespread, and continuing, apprehensions among major powers, recorded in separate cables, about the security of the weapons and its possible heist by terrorists, extremists and fundamentalists, including those in the government.

Among those expressing concern about the safety of Pakistani nukes are British and Russian officials, even as American and Chinese interlocutors mull over how to address Pakistan’s fear of India that is ostensibly leading it to crank out nuclear weapons rapidly even it stalls a treaty to end production of fissile material (FMCT).
