The social media giant Facebook Inc. recently unveiled the launch of its apps bunch called “Home” Android operating system. Explaining the features, CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that the OS will have the content loaded in the background, which could be visible automatically in both the home screen and lock screen. Further adding to the host of features, Home will allow an Individual, store the notifications though the same can swiped out as well if required.

With the increasing notifications from the apps it was mentioned that the new OS will only provide notifications come in from people and not the apps. Also the notifications will have the ability to display the image of the person for better understanding and adaptability.

Zuckerberg said, “The focus is on the Android Operating System, a free open source operating system launched by the Tech and Search Engine Giant Google Inc. and Facebook is not intending to launch any phone and is neither in the process of building any operating system.” The idea behind the launch is to spread roots of social network across Android Platform with an aim to provide the users facility to connect each other across the world in one click in one platform.

The world is now going after the highly sophisticated smart phones which are not people phone but are more apps dominated phone and the aim of Facebook it to call such phones as Facebook phone, which can only be achieved by tapping the enormous market of socializing and spreading the roots across Android which is gaining a large market share since its launch.

The invitation during the media release was aptly titled as “Come See Our New Home On Android” and certainly signified Facebook’s intention of capturing Android market. In a recent survey it was found that over 51% of the smartphone sales in 3-month quarter ending February was accounted from Android leaving behind the iOS, Symbian, Windows OS and others to a great extent.

Apples share in the market is falling every year, with the current being 43.5%, on the other hand Android is on a rising spree adding 5.9% Y-o-Y.

Chathead

Another new messaging feature called “Chatheads” is also introduced which pops up on the upper right side and can be tapped on. The Chathead will have the functionality of moving around and stacking together as well, so as to give the user a different feel of customization altogether. Further adding to the features it was revealed that the Chathead will work not only for Facebook Messages but also Short Messaging Services (SMS) as well. Popping up will bring up the user’s message and activate it for view and use.

The move of integrating mobile messaging (SMS) and Faecbook message is a great breakthrough and aims at mobility on the go. The move will integrate several facilities of social networking as well as mobile features in a single platform.
